Interbank transfers ordered after 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 30 will be settled only on Monday, May 4, informed the National Clearing House (KIR). She stipulated that the instant payments system will operate without interruption.

In its Monday announcement, KIR reminded that Friday, May 1 is a day off from work. “This means that the Elixir settlement system, which handles interbank transfers in PLN, has a break in its standard operation. Therefore, it is worth planning and ordering timely payments in advance or using instant transfers in the Express Elixir system, which is available continuously, also on holidays,” KIR emphasized.
She explained that settlements in the Elixir system are normally carried out during one of three sessions held on business days, at 9:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. An exception to this standard are public holidays. “Next Friday, May 1, the Elixir system will have a break in operation. Transfers ordered after 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 30 will be settled during the morning session of the next business day, i.e. on Monday, May 4,” explained KIR.
She added that at the same time, customers can use the instant payment system – Express Elixir, which operates continuously without interruption, i.e. also on weekends and holidays. “In the case of Euro Elixir – a system settling transfers in the EU currency (domestic and cross-border) – the interruption will cover Friday, May 1, because it is a day off also in European Union countries,” KIR emphasized.
KIR was established in 1991 to electronicize and professionalize interbank settlements in Poland. It is a company servicing the infrastructure of the Polish banking sector. It also serves as a technological integrator of solutions supporting the construction of a digital economy. (PAP)
