Gigi Becali (67 years old), the owner of the FCSBreacted after the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR) rejected the “Novak Law”. This was declared unconstitutional.

The decision comes after the notification made by the president Nicușor Dan and puts an end to a legal conflict that left the clubs, federations and athletes on hold for almost four years.

Thus, the sports groups in the country will no longer be obliged to rely on a minimum of 40% Romanian players from the 2026-2027 season in official domestic matches, as was established in the Romanian Parliament.

Gigi Becali exults and wants to fulfill his great desire: “I'm going to call the lawyer”

Becali initially voted for the law proposed by Eduard Novak, and later asked Mihai Stoica to sign a petition against it, along with six other Superliga presidents.

The petition reached the president Nicușor Dan, who sent it to the CCR, and the legislative project was rejected.

Becali welcomes the CCR's decision and claims that this decision will help him in his bid to overturn the U21 rule imposed by the FRF.

“I told you he was going to help us ever since. It's clear. Didn't I tell you he was helping us? That's what I've been waiting for. Good thing you told me. I'm going to call the lawyer. Why did I wait?

Now we will introduce the law that I have, the bill that I initiated. And now we will have a reason“, Gigi Becali declared, according to digisport.ro.

Gigi Becali, an independent deputy in the Parliament, after the break with the party led by George Simion, submitted in autumn a proposal to supplement the Physical Education and Sports Law.

The legislative proposal by which he sought to eliminate the obligation to use football players based on age criteria (the U21 rule) then received negative opinions on the line in the committees of the Chamber of Deputies.

Now the boss of the FCSB now wants to use the unconstitutionality of the “Novak Law” to prove that the U21 rule of the FRF is also unconstitutional.
