The city is preparing intensively to welcome the gymnast who reset the standards of gymnastics, obtaining a grade 10 in an absolute first. Several events will take place in the last days of May, when Oneștiul will host hundreds of guests, from sports personalities and officials, to media representatives and people who want to applaud Nadia on the open stage.

The Onești municipal sports club – subordinate to the National Sports Agency, in partnership with the Onești mayor's office and the Nadia Comăneci Foundation, will organize between May 28-31 “International Cup NADIA COMANECI – Perfect 10″.

It will be a international women's gymnastics competition dedicated to young sportswomen, which will take place at the Nadia Comăneci Multipurpose Hall. More than 200 junior athletes from Romania, USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Italy, France, Norway, Nigeria and Malta will participate.

Coaches, referees, former champions and renowned guests from the world of international sports will also be present. The competition will be more than a sporting event, it will be a meeting between the generations that built, inspired and carried forward the Romanian school of gymnastics.

On May 31, “Gala of Champions” from the Carom stadium will be the culminating moment of the anniversary events, a celebration of perfection at which the great Romanian gymnasts who started their careers and trained in Onești will be present.

Ingrid Istrate, CSM Onești director: “Onești will always be home for Nadia and we look forward to celebrating her. The 50 years since the Olympic Games in Montreal, where she wrote history, are the ideal opportunity to show her how much she is loved here. Nadia has always had a family in Onești who has accompanied her throughout her life. It will be a moment of celebration of talent and, at the same time, a symbolic meeting of generations in the place where perfection was born and in which we continue to build international talents. It will be a celebration that will go beyond the borders of Onești and I am glad that people of Romanian sport will come, who wanted to welcome Nadia home. It is a happy coincidence that, this year, Onești is a European City of Sports and confirms our concern to continuously develop the multidisciplinary sports club that can give Romania and the world new champions.
