Bolojan, unexpected support from a PSD-affiliated deputy: “The most competent prime minister”

Deputy Alexandrin Moiseev, affiliated to the PSD parliamentary group, announced on Tuesday that he would vote against the motion submitted by the Social Democrats and the AUR against the government led by Ilie Bolojan, whom he described as Romania's “most competent post-December prime minister”.
Alexandrin Moiseev, who was elected on the SOS Romania lists, but resigned from Diana Șoșoacă's party and, on June 2, 2025, joined the PSD group in the Chamber of Deputies, says that a vote against Ilie Bolojan “would be a slap in the face” to the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine.
“I have no way to vote the motion of censure against the most competent prime minister that Romania has had since the Revolution until now. It would be a slap to Bessarabia, to which I am spiritually connected and which looks towards Romania with confidence. It would be a slap to Ukraine, with which I have a sincere friendship and which needs stability in the region,” Moiseev wrote, on Tuesday, in a post on Facebook.
He stated that he will vote to reject the PSD-AUR motion.
“I believe that the prime minister must be allowed to complete his mandate. Romania needs stability, especially in the complicated regional context in which we find ourselves. I will not vote, with my vote, for risky political constructions that could weaken Romania's pro-European direction or create strategic vulnerabilities. Responsibility, balance and stability must be above any political game”, the deputy concluded.
A senator resigned from PSD
Senator Victoria Stoiciu announced on Tuesday that she is resigning from the party, comparing the agreement made with AUR to submit the motion to “a normalization of fascism”.
PSD and AUR submitted the censure motion against the Bolojan Government on Tuesday.
The document was signed by 254 parliamentarians, and to lead to the dismissal of the Bolojan Government, it will need a majority of at least 233 votes in the plenary session of the Parliament.
The leadership of the Parliament established that the motion will be read on Wednesday, from 12 o'clock, and will be voted on in secret, with ballots, on Tuesday, May 5, from 11 o'clock.
