13 years ago, Ukrainian singer Tina Karol became a widow – her husband and producer Evgeniy Ogir died on April 28 from cancer. On the anniversary of his death, the online publication GORDON tells the incredible love story of this couple.
The news that Tina Karol secretly married her producer in January 2008 came as a complete surprise to Ukrainian show business – as TabloID wrote, no one at that time even knew about their romance. A week after the publicity, the singer gave a press conference and confirmed in the TabloID editorial office that she had become Ogir’s wife.
She noted that the marriage registration itself in January was modest – only parents, witnesses and relatives were present at the ceremony, after which the newlyweds left for the Maldives and held another ceremony there.
Dating history
Karol then admitted that she and Ogir met in the spring of 2006 in Kakhovka, Kherson region, at the Tavria Games festival.
“If I’m not mistaken, May 2,” she noted.
According to the singer, for a long time there were only partnerships between them.
“We really met again at the premiere of the video “Nichenka” – in the evening program on M1, the producer of which was Zhenya. After the live broadcast, we finally talked. We discussed the news, general impressions. I only remember that it was very easy for us to communicate. Some kind of spark flared up inside again,” the artist shared her memories.
At first, Karol and Ogir started calling each other, and soon he became the singer’s producer.
Office romance
“I saw the sparkle in his eyes and realized that next to this man I felt safe, no one else in my life would dare to offend me. We, of course, talked a lot about work, but my thoughts were already on something else. I fell in love,” she admitted publicly.
On March 8, 2007, their relationship officially grew from business to romantic – Ogir came to congratulate his future wife on the holiday.
“I went down and he handed me a bouquet of yellow frozen tulips. We went to a restaurant. It was our first real romantic dinner. Speaking of flowers, as soon as they warmed up at home, they immediately withered,” she noted then.
In December, Ogir proposed to the singer and they applied for marriage registration.
Wedding
Editorial Viva! notes that the couple got married on June 15, 2008 in the Holy Assumption Cathedral of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. In the fall of 2008, the couple had a son, Benjamin.
Tina Karol was 27 years old when she became a widow – the artist fought for her husband’s life for a year and a half. Ogir was buried at the Berkovetsky cemetery in Kyiv on April 30.
