The illegitimate president of the aggressor country of Russia, Vladimir Putin, dismissed Yevgeny Primakov from the post of head of Rossotrudnichestvo and appointed his former deputy, Igor Chaika, the son of the former Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Yuri Chaika, as head. The corresponding decrees were published on the Russian “Official Internet Portal of Legal Information”.
In 2015, Alexei Navalny’s Anti-Corruption Foundation released a large investigation about Yuri Chaika and the business and property of his sons Igor and Artem. It mentioned, in particular, that the 27-year-old young businessman – the son of the Prosecutor General Igor Chaika – received many large government contracts.
In 2022, the US Treasury imposed sanctions against Igor Chaika for interfering in the internal affairs of Moldova. In May 2023, the EU announced the introduction of sanctions against Chaika Jr. and four other Russians for destabilizing the situation in Moldova.
