In Achinsk, a drunk driver wanted to give his friend a ride home and ended up under criminal charges.

The evidence base collected by the Achinsk police made it possible to confiscate a car from a drunk driver.

Everything happened on December 29, 2025. At night, in the Southern Industrial Zone, a Kia Ceed driven by a 42-year-old man came to the attention of traffic police inspectors. The police stopped the car to check and noticed that the driver was intoxicated. Achinets admitted that he drank alcohol with a friend. and then volunteered to give him a ride home.

The man underwent a medical examination on the spot; a breathalyzer showed 0.61 mg/l in the exhaled air. But since the Achin resident was not satisfied with this result, the inspectors were forced to take him to a medical facility. During the time that the drunk driver spent on the road, the readings increased to 0.64 mg/l, which was confirmed by doctors.

“Traffic inspectors also found that in 2024, the magistrate of the city of Nazarovo found the Achinets guilty of committing an administrative offense under Part 1 of Art. 12.8 Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. He was sentenced to a fine of 30 thousand rubles with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 1 year 6 months,” added the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the region.

A criminal case was opened against a man who had been previously convicted several times under Part 1 of Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Driving a vehicle while intoxicated by a person subject to administrative punishment or having a criminal record.”

The Achinsk City Court convicted the drunk driver. The drunk driver was sentenced to 400 hours of compulsory labor with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for 2 years and 6 months.

In addition, the car driven by the Achin resident was confiscated to the state.
