Throughout this season, Rapid seemed to be on the upswing compared to last season. But the playoffs showed that Rapid had only developed the ability to get the points with the second tier teams. When it came to matches with the elite teams, Gâlcă's team crashed in the playoffs. He only beat Dinamo with a decisive assist from Istvan Kovacs.
Rapid are the most uninspired managed team in our football. Since it was taken over by Dan Șucu, the band from Giulești has always been on the podium of the budgets. But Rapid was never there in the final standings of the season. If Dan Șucu had faced the current owner of Rapid at the “Empire of Lions”, he would have kicked him out.
Empire of the Scattered Lions
Rapid is the Empire of the Scattered Lions. The transfer amounts are not justified in the case of most of the Giulești players. Nor the exorbitant salaries, such as Moruțan's. Dan Șucu furnished his lot with mismatched pieces. And it didn't even take the best craftsman to assemble them.
After the goal scored against Dinamo, Daniel Paraschiv gathered courage and declared that Rapid is the weakest team in the playoffs as a group. An answer for Gâlcă, the coach who had just said publicly before the Derby that he expected more from Paraschiv. As it would come, the striker claims that Rapid has values in the group, but they are not harmonized and united in a coaching group.
This after Alex Dobre had also launched an even more percussive missile against Gâlcă: “the coach's tactics do not value me”.
And then the coach appointed Dobre as the top, which the former captain is not. You say that Gâlcă wanted to take revenge on the invisible rebel and in the game with Dinamo. As aggressive as he was in his statements, Dobre was as harmless on the field.
Let's dot the i
Rapid has no executive, no coach, no players and no supporters. Knocked down in the fight with the bubbling i's of the Romanian language, lost on the sheets displayed in the lawn, the fans took revenge on the players. In these moments, when you need to show that you are a supporter and not just a newlywed and a hard-hitting verbal stone thrower, the gallery failed worse than the team.
Without Petrila, without Aioani, with a team that doesn't have a collective game, with a disillusioned coach and rebellious fans, Rapid is in danger of being chosen even with the “wooden spoon”, as happened two seasons ago. Instead of focusing his energies on a successful project, Șucu remains scattered between two middle-class clubs. But next season promises to be interesting.
The young Decar Andrei Petru Cristian Șucu must start playing in the first team. Gâlcă's successor will still have a complicated equation to solve.
