A Zheleznogorsk resident was sent under house arrest for transferring 500 rubles to the extremist organization FBK*

The Zheleznogorsk City Court has chosen a preventive measure for a local resident who is accused of financing an extremist organization. The 42-year-old man has been placed under house arrest until at least June 22.

According to investigators, in August 2021, he watched a video on YouTube video hosting on the channel of Alexei Navalny**, after which he followed the link and transferred 500 rubles to the account of a liquidated organization recognized by the court as extremist. We are talking about the Anti-Corruption Fund (FBK)*.

The court found that the man should be isolated from society, but considered it possible to apply a more lenient measure than detention.

The charge was brought under Part 1 of Article 282.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (financing extremist activities). The resolution has not yet entered into legal force.

* The organization is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia.

** Included in the Rosfinmonitoring register of terrorists and extremists.
