Employees of the National Library of Yakutia discovered a unique gramophone record in the Russian State Archive of Film, Photo and Sound Documents. As KP - Yakutia writes, this is the first sound recording of Yakut folklore in history – the disc was released in a single copy in Moscow in 1939.

The disc recorded the voices of outstanding singers of that time – Ekaterina Zakharova and Anna Egorova, who left a noticeable mark on the cultural life of the republic. In 1939, Zakharova, together with her sister, the first children's writer Anna Neustroyeva, as well as the honored artist Egorova and the artist Mark Zhirkov, went to a Moscow sanatorium. It was then, in the wake of the development of Soviet sound recording, that this record appeared.

The chief librarian of the National Library, Sardana Alekseeva, noted that the find allows a new audience, including young people, to get in touch with that era. Experts hope to discover other artifacts of audiovisual heritage in the archives.
