The police found a resident of the Krasnoyarsk Territory with reserves of gunpowder in his wardrobe

In the Balakhtinsko-Novoselovsky district, police detained a local resident who stored gunpowder at his home.

During the operational-search activities, local police officers and local criminal investigation officers found three metal cans of gunpowder in the wardrobe in the house. The 37-year-old man explained that he purchased gunpowder for personal needs in Krasnoyarsk.

The investigative department initiated and investigated a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation, forwarding or carrying of explosives or explosive devices.” The maximum penalty under this article is up to eight years in prison. The criminal case was transferred to the Balakhtinsky District Court for consideration on the merits.

The suspect was given a written undertaking not to leave the place.

Police officers urge citizens to promptly report to the internal affairs authorities any known fact of illegal trafficking in weapons, ammunition and explosives.
