Every gardener dreams of spathiphyllum to produce white “sails”. However, for abundant flowering, “female happiness” needs to be fed. Only in this case will the plant develop successfully.
Why tangerine peel works better than chemicals
Spathiphyllum loves natural fertilizers much more than store-bought mineral waters. Ordinary tangerine peels are a real treasure for a flower: potassium triggers budding, phosphorus strengthens the roots, and citric acid slightly acidifies the soil so that all useful substances are absorbed with a bang.
This is what this feeding gives:
- inflorescences become larger and brighter;
- the leaves stop turning yellow;
- the soil in the pot remains loose longer.
Fresh infusion
For 2 liters of water (it is better to use melted or well-settled water) you will need the peel of two tangerines. Finely chop the peels, put them in a jar, cover with water and leave at room temperature for a day.
Strain the finished liquid and use it for regular watering instead of water, advises the author of the “Gathering the Harvest” channel (18+).
Dry powder for future use
If a lot of peel has accumulated, it can be dried on a radiator or in the oven, crushed into powder with a blender and stored in a closed glass jar.
To prepare the fertilizer, pour 2 tablespoons of powder into 2 liters of water, leave for 24 hours and filter. You can sprinkle the same powder on your garden beds: it repels ants and serves as a barrier for cats.
