“I still improve the Ukrainian language, because I think that it is now necessary. It is necessary for all of us to know the Ukrainian language. I still improve it, I am working on it. Because it is our weapon is the Ukrainian language. And now it’s very noticeable because the Ukrainians are now very united and very strong. I also want to become part of this force, so I’m teaching,” the artist said.

66-year-old Aurika Rotaru noted that she graduated from the Moldavian school in which they did not teach the Ukrainian language. The artist admitted that from childhood she sang in Ukrainian, but could not speak it.

“So now I'm studying,” she emphasized.

Context

Aurika Rotaru was born on October 22, 1958 in the village of Marshintsy Chernivtsi region. She graduated from the Chernivtsi music school named after Vorobkevich and the Odessa Pedagogical Institute named after Ushinsky. In 2019, she was awarded the title of People's Artist of Ukraine.

In 1987, the singer married Ukrainian banker Vladimir Pigach. In the same year, the daughter of Anastasia was born in the family. In 2005, the husband of Rotaru died of a stroke.
