On April 24, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine announced the dismissal of the commander of the 14th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, as well as the removal and demotion of the commander of the 10th Army Corps.
Personnel decisions are related to the situation at the front in the Kupyansk region of the Kharkov region. The day before, the media wrote that servicemen of the 14th brigade of the 2nd mechanized battalion of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkov direction periodically remained without food and drinking water for eight months.
“The guys in the positions were left without food and water! The command is not responding. The soldiers are losing consciousness from hunger, drinking rainwater. There are also problems with communications,” the daughter of one of the soldiers, who demobilized but maintains contact with the unit, said on social networks.
The General Staff confirmed that the crossing of the Oskol River in the brigade’s area of operation was severely disrupted by shelling from the aggressor country of Russia; supplies are being carried out by boats and drones. It is alleged that “another cargo of food” has been left for the fighters.
The previous command of the 14th OMBR hid the real state of affairs, the General Staff said. Colonel Taras Maksimov was appointed as the new brigade commander, and the 10th Army Corps was headed by Brigadier General Artem Bogomolov.
