“Patients of Ukraine” warn: new rules of the pharmaceutical market can leave people be…

From March 1, new rules for the operation of the pharmaceutical market, which are designed to reduce drug prices, should enter into force. However, the “Patients of Ukraine” organization believes that innovations can lead to a shortage of medicines, their price increase and the growth of the shadow market.
“The shortage of drugs, which can arise due to a number of changes, can cause the suspension of treatment for patients, when Ukrainians simply will not be able to buy drugs due to their absence or inflated price. Therefore, patients will begin to switch to other drugs not because of the doctor's decision, but because of the lack of the drug in the pharmacy,” said Inna Ivanenko, executive director of the “Patients of Ukraine” BF.
What can await patients?
▪️Disappearance of important drugs from pharmacies due to unfavorable supply conditions.
▪️The transition of patients to less effective analogs is not based on a doctor's recommendation, but due to a shortage of drugs.
▪️The development of the “grey” market of medicines, the purchase of medicines from the EU, Turkey and other countries without quality guarantees.
The BF emphasizes that competition, not administrative restrictions, will help lower drug prices. Read more about threats to patients in the news.
