A Russian businessman sued BMW for 300 million rubles due to a rattling fan.
An entrepreneur from the Moscow region bought a BMW X7 in 2021. The complete package cost him 11 million rubles: it includes airflow for the backs of the front seats, which should make trips in hot weather more comfortable.
However, there was something wrong with the airflow – it scraped against the skin, rattled and irritated the owner. The businessman went to court to sue the automaker for his money and force him to provide a new car.
The court sided with the businessman and ruled that the company must pay a penalty until the car is replaced. However, BMW soon left the Russian market and began to ignore the court's demands.
The penalties amounted to 6.5 million rubles per month, and to date 300 million have accrued. BMW representatives considered the independent examination “nonsense,” but the court supports the victim.
