Netflix is preparing to release an intense thriller on streaming. Two award-winning actors team up in the platform's new audience bet
The streaming platform has reunited two big-name actors for a thrilling cat-and-mouse race set in the Australian outback, after working with both Hollywood stars for previous productions that had impressive audience figures.
Netflix will release on Friday, April 24, including in Romania, the film “Apex”, which tells the story of an adrenaline-addicted woman whose expedition turns into a nightmare when she begins to be hunted by an unknown person in the Australian wilderness.
“For a film like Apex, where the elements of nature and terrain are as important characters as the movie stars fighting in it, no other country in the world could have replaced Australia as the main location,” explained Baltasar Kormákur, the director of the film, also known for “Everest”.

The film stars Taron Egerton and Charlize Theron, this being the first film in which the two act together.
The two performers have also been cast on the streaming platform in hit movies.
Egerton starred in “Carry On,” Netflix's third-most-watched movie of all time, and Theron starred in “The Old Guard” franchise, which generated tens of millions of views, according to Screen Rant.
Charlize Theron fell in love with rock climbing during filming
The Academy Award winner for her spectacular role in “Monster” has gone above and beyond for her performance in Netflix's adrenaline-pumping new film, “Apex,” according to ABC News.
The South African-American actress performed her stunts mostly without a stunt double and learned the secrets of mountain climbing from Beth Rodden, a famous American mountaineer.
He did rock climbing daily, but also kayaking sessions in Australia. After filming, he stated that he fell in love with climbing and will continue to practice it.
Present at the film's New York premiere, Theron described her character, Sasha, as a “fighter” and “a true survivor,” according to People magazine.
Welsh actor Taron Egerton, who won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Elton John in the film “Rocketman”, has had grueling training to prepare for his role in “Apex”, according to the BBC. He also changed his appearance and shaved his head for playing the negative role.
“I was really excited that I didn't have to worry every day about how my hair looked,” Egerton said.
The “Apex” cast also includes Australian actor Eric Bana, playing the role of an enigmatic character named Tommy.
This is also a new collaboration for Bana with Netflix, following the well-received crime series Untamed, which is set to return for a second season, according to Wales Online.
