Łukasz Litewka, a 36-year-old Left MP from Sosnowiec, organizer of numerous charity events, died tragically on Thursday afternoon while riding a bicycle. He was hit by a car on the street. Kazimierzowska in Dąbrowa Górnicza.
Activities involving the detained driver were delayed by medical examinations that lasted several hours – before the interrogation, investigators wanted to determine whether the cause of the accident could have been the driver's fainting or falling asleep.
According to the original plan, information about the current findings of the investigation ongoing at the District Prosecutor's Office in Dąbrowa Górnicza was to be provided by the District Prosecutor's Office in Sosnowiec on Friday early afternoon, but in the afternoon the detainee was still being examined. The aim is to verify reports that the accident could have been caused by the driver fainting or falling asleep.
– We are trying to identify all the processes that could have occurred or are still occurring in this person's body, which could have an impact on his perception, his state of attention and concentration. We feel obliged to obtain this medical data, Bartosz Kilian, spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Sosnowiec, told PAP.
The autopsy results are in

After the tests, the 57-year-old was taken to the prosecutor's office in Dąbrowa, where he will be questioned. The prosecutor's office intends to organize a press conference on Friday, after completing these activities. This may happen around 6:30 p.m.
The tragic accident occurred on Thursday around 13. According to preliminary police findings, the 57-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi Colt from Sosnowicz probably fell asleep or fainted at the wheel and drove into the opposite lane, where he collided with an MP riding a bicycle from the opposite direction. Łukasz Litewka died despite resuscitation. The driver of the Mitsubishi was detained.
Łukasz Litewka was known for his charitable and social activities. His #TeamLitewka foundation includes, among others: through social media, she publicized and supported the treatment of children and the rescue of animals; responded to difficult situations in the local community, collecting funds for rehabilitation equipment and help for accident victims.
During the campaign before the 2023 parliamentary elections, Łukasz Litewka placed on election posters images of dogs from a local shelter waiting for adoption, with their names and telephone contact details. After the campaign, Litewka's banners were used as insulation material for shelter boxes. (PAP)
