This is about Tuesday's article by “Dziennik Gazeta Prawna”, which stated that the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland (KPRP) refused to provide information on the earnings of its most important employees.

In a statement on the same day published in response to, among others, these reports, the KPRP noted that “presidential ministers in the chancellery earn the same as government ministers” and the same is true for secretaries and undersecretaries of state.

The principles of remuneration for persons holding managerial state positions, including the head of the president's office (…), are analogous to those in the case of identical positions in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and individual ministries. (…) Presidential ministers holding the positions of secretaries and undersecretaries of state receive remuneration in the same amount as ministers holding their positions in the government,” we read.

The president's office added that its head earns “similarly” to the heads of the prime minister's office, the Sejm or the Senate.

According to KPRP information, the gross monthly salary of the head of the president's office consists of:

  • base amount – which this year according to the KPRP is PLN 1,878.89 gross – multiplied by 7.84,
  • functional allowance in the amount of the base amount multiplied by 2.10.

This gives a total of PLN 18,676.15 gross.

For the deputy head of the president's chancellery, the base amount multiplier is 7.46, and for secretaries and undersecretaries of state – 7.04. In addition, there is an allowance of a double multiplier for the deputy head of the chancellery and 1.92 for secretaries and undersecretaries. The KPRP emphasized that the office's employees do not receive additional annual remuneration (the so-called PAP) for employees of public sector entities.

As noted, the earnings of employees of the president's office are based on the Act on the remuneration of persons holding managerial state positions and “the regulation of the President of the Republic of Poland of November 22, 2021 issued pursuant to it on detailed rules for the remuneration of persons holding managerial state positions.” The KPRP added that “salary expenditures are growing below the overall budget increase, and the KPRP draft budget for 2026 does not include any increases for ministers.”

The KPRP statement also states that it is planned the budget of the Chancellery of the President for 2026 is to amount to PLN 325.5 million; compared to the current year, it is to be higher by PLN 26.6 million, i.e. it will increase by 8.9%. The KPRP also noted that the Chancellery of the Sejm plans to increase its budget by 6.2% next year, and the Chancellery of the Senate by 15.32%; the total budgets of the Chancellery of the Sejm and Senate in 2026 will amount to over PLN 1 billion.

The president's office also announced that the budget of the prime minister's office next year is to amount to PLN 648 million, but did not specify how much of an increase it will record. (PAP)
