Rescuers helped the injured. Then an Israeli drone hit them

Reuters, citing sources in the Lebanese military, reported that an Israeli drone dropped a grenade on rescuers when they tried to lift an injured journalist from the rubble in the city of Tayri, located in the south of the country. A source told the agency that the Lebanese army asked the Israeli army to allow the evacuation of the journalists.

The daily “L'Orient-Le-Jour” reported that the Red Cross used an excavator to try to remove the tumors of journalist Amal Khalil. According to the newspaper, the second of the injured journalists has already been evacuated to hospital. This is Zeinab Faraj, who suffered minor injuries to her head and leg. The Red Cross car that was transporting Faraj to the hospital was also shot at by the Israeli army, according to the Lebanese news agency.

Appeal from the President of Lebanon

“President Aoun asked the Lebanese Red Cross to come to the aid (of journalists) in cooperation with the army and international forces,” the Lebanese president's office wrote on Platform X. Aoun called not to attack journalists doing their work.

The south of Lebanon was occupied by Israeli troops during the offensive against Hezbollah launched in early March. This Shiite organization, which is outside the control of the government in Beirut, joined the US and Israel's war against Iran, siding with Tehran. Hezbollah is supported and financed by Iran.

1.2 million people fled south of Lebanon before the war. Nearly 2,300 Lebanese died in the conflict. The Israeli military wants to create a buffer zone in the south of Lebanon that would protect the north of Israel against Hezbollah attacks.
