Victor Ponta accuses the existence of an “illegitimate and anti-Romanian mechanism”, on the day of the motion: “The Bolojan government will fall. The battle for Romania does not end here”

Former Prime Minister Victor Ponta claims, in a post published on Facebook, that the censure motion debated today in Parliament will be adopted, and the Government led by Ilie Bolojan will be dismissed.

“Today's censure motion will also pass. And the “Bolojan” Government will be dismissed, as was the “Ungureanu” Government”, wrote Ponta, drawing a parallel with the situation in 2012, when the cabinet led by Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu was removed by a similar vote.

The former prime minister states, however, that the current political moment is only a stage in a wider confrontation, which he describes as a “battle” he continues. In his opinion, the conflict is fought with those who, he says, criticize Romanians and promote policies against national interests.

Ponta accuses the existence of a “illegitimate and anti-Romanian mechanism” which would control major political decisions and which, in the past, would have also influenced Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu, and would currently act on the Bolojan Government. “I don't think at all that Bolojan is the “big bad” – just like I didn't think Mihai Răzvan Ungureanu was even then. The essential problem was the “mechanism” that had taken hostage the MRU (now Bolojan) and, through him, the Government of Romania”he claimed.

In his message, the political leader also refers to past economic developments, stating that after the 2012 motion, Romania “recovered economically and socially”but that the situation would have changed later, in 2015, when “MECHANISM” would have returned to power.

Ponta also talks about a major economic stake, claiming that important sums have been taken out of the country in recent years and criticizing recent Government decisions, including defense contracts.

Finally, the former prime minister expresses his hope that, after the possible fall of the Government, Romania will enter “in the right direction again,” similar to the one he invokes for the period after 2012.

“It is important that, from tomorrow, we know that we are going again in the right direction for Romania and for Romanians”, Victor Ponta also transmitted.
