Alfred Simonis, PSD Timiș president, believes that the social democrats will soon return to the Victoria Palace: “A stable pro-European government is needed”

The President of the Timiş County Council, Alfred Simonis, who is also the president of the PSD Timiş, said on Thursday that the relationship between him and the mayor of Timișoara, Dominic Fritz, did not deteriorate during this period and mentioned that the PSD will not be out of government for very long.

“I have no evidence that the relationship between me and Mr. Fritz, between the County Council and Timișoara City Hall, has broken down or will break down. Besides, it would be interesting to say that, when Mr. Fritz and his lordship's party were in opposition, I was in the government, president of the Chamber of Deputies, and whenever I had the opportunity, as his lordship admitted, I supported the City Hall, Timiş County. I don't think we will stay very long in outside the government (…) I am no longer surprised by anything, I am no longer surprised either, considering that those who until yesterday were saying that the alliance, the association with the extremists is bad and today are throwing hot marshmallows at those in AUR, saying that everything would be normal”, said Alfred Simonis, on Thursday, in a press conference.
Simonis says that those who until now were totally against GOLD, now “I give him hot marshmallows”.
“If any PSD-ist did this, you wouldn't know what hysteria was in the country. Television stations warmly welcome this attempt to associate between AUR or MPs from AUR, as if AUR means an abstract thing. AUR means people from AUR, i.e. parliamentarians and the leadership. When I deal with half of AUR parliamentarians, I deal with AUR. To be clear, I don't want to go into too many details, but those who were totally against the association with a party, today I give him hot marshmallows”, Simonis said.
CJ Timiş leader is of the opinion that at this moment, in Romania, a stable pro-European government is needed, and this is not possible without PSD.
“I think that at this moment in Romania we need a stable pro-European government. There is no stable pro-European government without the Social Democratic Party. At this moment, everyone is explaining how they no longer want to do with the Social Democratic Party. I tell you that, after another 2-3 weeks have passed, you will ask those who today declare that they no longer want to be with the Social Democratic Party, why they changed their mind about this statement, they will have to explain why they are doing with the Social Democratic Party and they will invoke the same stability and responsibility. At this moment, the decision is very clear for us, we are withdrawing, and without the PSD, another government cannot be formed in the Parliamentexcept for the situation in which the AUR will support the Bolojan Government”, declared Simonis.
Alfred Simonis also says that when the motion of censure against the Government is submitted, it will be adopted and he called for balance.
“If this is the pro-European Government of Mr. Bolojan, I wish it success. Allow me to have been through that Parliament for a while and understand how it works. I am absolutely convinced that when the censure motion is submitted, it will be adopted in Parliament. It is background noise at this time. I think it is better not to venture into statements. I think the balance at this time is good for everyone. The interest must be one general, not one or the other. We don't have to block a country for a single man. It doesn't matter that some people think it's good, others think it's badSimonis added.
PSD ministers submitted their resignations on Thursday, and Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan appointed interims. The proposals will be sent to the president Nicusor Dan.
