The police specified that the seizure of the cocaine cargo was possible thanks to the support of the Maritime Police, Gendarmerie, Navy and the Portuguese Air Force.

Portuguese security forces seized drugs on one of the fast speedboats, the crew of which tried to throw some packets of cocaine into the water while escaping.
According to a police statement, the pursuit of the drug-filled vessel lasted about an hour. It was not stated how many people were captured during the raid.
“The detained vessel, whose presence near the coast of Portugal was unjustified, had several unidentified suspects on board,” the police said, adding that the raid is part of the recently intensified patrol missions to combat drug smuggling.
