Unexpected attack at sea after Trump extends truce

A container ship was attacked off the coast of Oman by naval forces of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, according to British naval authorities, cited by the New York Times.
The crew is safe, although the control deck is badly damaged. The British agency UKMTO, coordinated by the Royal Navy, reported that the attack was launched without any prior radio warning.
The attack came shortly after President Donald Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire with Iran to allow negotiations brokered by Pakistan to continue. Although direct attacks had been suspended, the United States maintained a strict naval blockade of Iranian ports.
Tehran responded aggressively to the extension of the truce, categorizing the maintenance of the naval blockade as an act of war that must receive a military response.
