A black stork named Tarys was delivered to the Roev Ruchey Flora and Fauna Park. As sibnovosti.ru writes, this bird is listed in the Red Book and is endangered.
A weakened young chick was noticed in the Republic of Tyva near the healing spring Tarys in Tere-Kholsky kozhuun. Without human help he would not have survived. An expedition team of the Tuvan Republican Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, led by ornithologist Taigana Mochek, came to the rescue. Activists named the bird after the location where it was found.
First, the stork was transported to the Abakan Zoo, and then taken to Krasnoyarsk. Now Tarys is in quarantine, experts are assessing his condition.
The zoo plans to include the bird in its breeding program for rare species. A female black stork named Chika, who arrived from the Moscow Zoo in 2024, already lives in the Roeva Ruchya enclosure.
