“As a result of some information circulated in the public space, I specify that there are no proposals regarding the appointment of interim ministers. The government is currently carrying out its activity in the formula in which it was invested by the Parliament”Ioana Dogioiu sent on the Government's Facebook page.
According to the spokesperson, the lists circulated in the public space, with the so-called proposals of interim ministers, are “false and not based on real information”.
PSD leaders voted unanimously on Wednesday to withdraw the seven ministers from the Government. This will happen on Thursday, before the meeting of the Executive led by Ilie Bolojan.
Political sources quoted by Adevărul stated, earlier on Wednesday, that the prime minister would intend to dismiss, in Thursday's government meeting, all PSD dignitaries – from ministers to prefects – replacing them with technocrats and civil society representatives.
However, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan conveyed, on Tuesday evening, that in the conditions in which the PSD ministers will resign, the holders of the other portfolios will take over the responsibility of these ministries.
“We will see in the coming days what will happen. It is a pulverized parliament, it is difficult to make majorities. If on Thursday the PSD ministers retire, we are prepared to replace them with the other ministers. We have high priorities such as the completion of major construction sites, so as not to lose European money. All the sacrifices made for a year would be lost”said the prime minister.
Moreover, political sources also say that PSD leaders support the option of a technocrat prime minister to replace Ilie Bolojan, in which case they consider the government crisis resolved. According to them, President Nicușor Dan would agree to this option, only that the PNL leaders clearly conveyed to him that they are not giving up on Ilie Bolojan as the head of the Government.
Following the consultations that took place on Wednesday in Cotroceni, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan told President Nicușor Dan that he is not resigning.
“I have presented the position of the National Liberal Party. This position reflects the decisions that the Politburo decided yesterday. Namely, the fact that I continue to assume the mandate of prime minister. The National Liberal Party will support the government's activity at the governmental and parliamentary level in such a way that we can carry out an activity of administering the country in the best possible conditions in this difficult situation”the prime minister declared after consultations.
