“Calm down, we'll get through this.” The appeal made by Nicușor Dan to the population after the consultations in Cotroceni

“I have had consultations all day today with the pro-Western parties in the current coalition. They were informal consultations, because at this point the Constitution does not give the president a direct role in this, but it is important to know how each of us sees the future.
We are obviously in a political crisis, which did not start today. For months, misunderstandings and differences of opinion between the parties in the coalition have been amplified. What I asked the parties at these talks was to de-escalate the public rhetoric, then look to the future and what we are going to do, rather than the past, and focus on solutions, not problems.
By this point, every political actor has voiced their grievances. The question is how do we proceed. In any political formula, majority or minority, we will need dialogue between pro-Western political forces.
Beyond this political crisis, we must assure the Romanians that we have functioning state institutions. There are differences of opinion at the political level, but Romania's pro-Western direction is not in question. Each of the parties that participated today made it clear that they rule out a government with anti-Western forces like AUR. Also, they all showed their support for Romania's essential projects, such as OECD, SAFE and PNRR.
So keep calm and we'll get through this.”
