MegaFon and Sber introduced Smart Auto Payment for convenient balance control

MegaFon and Sber have launched a new generation phone replenishment service.
“Smart auto payment” automatically maintains a positive mobile phone balance. It analyzes upcoming debits and calculates the replenishment amount so that the subscriber remains connected everywhere, even while roaming.
The service monitors your balance in real time and analyzes all upcoming regular write-offs for the next 30 days. And based on this data, MegaFon calculates the required replenishment amount – taking into account the subscription fee, paid subscriptions, additional Internet packages and other monthly services. The amount covers all projected expenses for the month in advance and includes a small reserve of 20 rubles.
According to Sber, 61% of users periodically forget to top up their mobile account on time or miss operator notifications about a decrease in balance. At the same time, traditional autopayment is not synchronized with the dates when funds are debited for services; it simply replenishes the account with a fixed amount on a predetermined day, or when a minimum balance threshold is reached.
As a result, the dates of replenishment and debiting may not coincide, so the subscriber must manually synchronize them. Meanwhile, the Smart Payment mechanism eliminates erroneous replenishments and, if necessary, the tool can replenish the balance several times a month, but will not exceed the limit set by the user.
“We see that classic auto payments are no longer enough for users – they do not take into account the real cost structure and often do not save them from going into the red. Therefore, we created a service that works as a full-fledged financial assistant, thanks to which there is no need to control the balance manually,” said MegaFon commercial director Dmitry Rudskikh.

Smart Payment management is available in the Sber app. Debiting from a bank card and crediting a payment are carried out only on the bank's side.
