Tehran criticizes US “piracy” after seizure of ship and promises response

Iran condemns the US seizure of an Iranian-flagged cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz, calling it an act of “armed piracy” and vows to take action, according to Al-Jazeera.
The attack comes hours after US President Donald Trump announced he was sending his team to Islamabad for possible talks with Iran.
But an Iranian source says Tehran will not come to negotiations unless the US lifts its blockade.
In Lebanon, the 10-day truce with Israel is in effect as thousands continue to return to check on their destroyed homes in the south. Data provided by maritime analytics firm Kpler shows that more than 20 ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz on April 18, marking the highest number of ships to cross the waterway since the war against Iran began on March 1.
Of the vessels that successfully transited on Saturday, five had Iranian cargoes consisting of metals and various petroleum products.
The data shows that three liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers were part of the group that transited the strait, two of them destined for China and India.
Among the other ships were some carrying products from Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
