
After all the ballots were counted, the opposition party Tisza, led by Peter Madyar, won 70.85% of the votes. She received 141 mandates in the 199-seat parliament.
The alliance between Fidesz and the Christian Democratic People's Party, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, received 26.13% support. They brought 52 representatives into parliament.
The far-right Our Motherland party was able to overcome the electoral threshold and won six seats in parliament.
Commenting on the voting results on Facebook, Madyar noted that the mandate received is unprecedented and at the same time imposes significant responsibility on the political force.
The elections were distinguished by record citizen activity: the turnout was almost 80% – this is the highest figure in the history of the country.
