The messenger created by the Ministry of Digitization and NASK is being tested by a thousand people from the government administration and services, including the police, said the deputy head of the ministry, Paweł Olszewski, on Wednesday at a meeting of the Sejm digitization committee. He added that the tool may be presented in April.

On Friday, the Ministry of Digitization announced that, together with the NASK Institute, it had completed work on the Polish tool for secure communication, i.e. mSzyfr. The messenger is free of charge and will be intended for public administration and entities of the national cybersecurity systemwhich will register in the list of key and important entities.
– Tests are underway on a group of about a thousand people from the government administration, services and police. I think that by the end of the month we will be able to show the messenger to the world, Olszewski said on Wednesday at a meeting of the Sejm digitization committee.
He added that at the beginning, mSzyfr will be dedicated to central and local government administration, and also – by decision of the Minister of Digitization – to selected entities, e.g. critical from the point of view of state security.

– I do not rule out that we will ultimately create another application that will be a kind of duplication of mSyfer, but for commercial use, for citizens – Olszewski said.
He emphasized that mSzyfr is a “100% sovereign” solution. – It is based on Polish solutions, Polish infrastructure, Polish code (source – PAP); there are no external components – declared the deputy minister.
According to the ministry's declaration, mSzyfr enables encryption of communication between users and secure transfer of data to the server. The messenger is based on end-to-end encryption and advanced cryptography, which means that only the sender and recipient can access the message, MC said. Text and voice messages, audio and video calls, transferred files and metadata (data about data, e.g. the time the message was sent) are encrypted. The mSzyfr messenger was financed from the state budget. (PAP)
