Since April 2025, the number of online job offers has been systematically decreasing; in three of the four broad professional groups, the downward trend continues – according to the Job Offers Barometer. The upward trend occurs only in professions requiring science education.

“Since April last year, the number of online job offers has been systematically decreasing, and in three of the four broad occupational groups there is a downward trend. The most visible reduction concerns professions related to manual work, although there are still relatively many vacancies in this group. The only segment with a slight upward trend remains professions requiring exact education, although the number of offers there is still low” – indicated in the Barometer prepared by the Department of Economics and Finance of UITM and the Office of Investments and Cycles Economical.
In March this year the value of the Job Offer Barometer dropped again and amounted to 244.5 points. In February it was 246.7 points, and in January – 261.4 points.
As the authors of the report explained, one of the reasons for the low activity of recruiters is the weakened economic situation, deepened by the pro-inflation supply shock on the energy market related to the conflict in the Middle East. In March, the number of vacancies decreased in most voivodeships. The largest decreases were recorded in the Pomeranian, Greater Poland and Lubelskie voivodeships, and the largest increases – in the following voivodeships: Podlasie, Lubusz and Opole provinces. They added that they observed a slightly stronger reduction in offers in regions with low unemployment.
The report noted that increases in the group of strict professions have been observed since the beginning of last year and this was largely due to the revival in IT professions and the construction industry. They added that after a relatively minor correction in the last quarter, vacancies for such employees increased in March for the second month in a row. They also noted that, compared to previous years, the activity of employers in the exact sciences group “remains clearly weakened.”
As for the remaining occupational groups, the scale of declines in the number of offers “was similar and relatively small”, but relatively, the largest reduction in vacancies occurred in services, and the smallest in professions for graduates in social sciences or law.
“In services, we have been observing a gradual decline in the number of job advertisements for a year and a half. Nevertheless, the number of advertised vacancies remains at the level at which it has been oscillating for several years. We are also observing a downward trend in physical and social professions. In the first category, we have been observing a shrinking number of vacancies for over a year and a half, but there are still quite a lot of job offers for this type of employees. In social professions, we are also observing a downward trend, but it is less pronounced. Unlike physical professions, in the group of social sciences There are clearly fewer vacancies than in the past,” said the authors of the report.
According to the report, the registered unemployment rate (excluding seasonal work) in February this year increased to 5.8 percent. As noted, although it remains low in historical terms, the number of unemployed people is “clearly higher” than a year ago. According to the authors, the simultaneous decline in the number of job offers and increase in unemployment favor the development of the employer's market, i.e. they weaken the bargaining position of employees and worsen the prospects for an increase in real wages. In such conditions, improving qualifications becomes crucial.
The Job Offer Barometer is created on the basis of job offers advertised on the Internet in cooperation with the Department of Economics and Finance of the University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszów and the Office of Investments and Economic Cycles. Data on offers is collected every month. Then, they are deprived of the seasonal factor, which ensures their comparability between individual seasons and excludes the influence of changes in seasonal advertisements, i.e. some offers regarding temporary work.
