The self-employed were reminded of the procedure for receiving sick pay

April 16 18:00
From 2026, self-employed Russians who pay professional income tax will have the opportunity to take paid sick leave. The procedure was recalled in the Social Fund.
As Om1 Novosibirsk writes, for this you need to conclude a voluntary agreement with the Social Fund of Russia and start transferring insurance premiums. The right to benefits arises only six months after the start of payment of contributions. It doesn’t matter whether a person pays the annual amount at once or pays monthly – a six-month waiting period is required.
The amount of sick pay depends on several factors: the length of the insurance period, the regularity of payment of contributions and the insurance amount chosen by the self-employed. The law provides two options – 35 thousand or 50 thousand rubles. The contribution rate is 3.84% of the selected amount.
Once the right to benefits has arisen, the FIS department will itself send a notification. The same notifications will come after each closed sick leave.
The rules apply only to payments for temporary disability and do not apply to maternity benefits.
