Towns and villages in southern Lebanon are being razed to the ground by Israeli demolitions, satellite images and video obtained by BBC Verify show.

The analysis found that more than 1,400 buildings were destroyed after March 2, based on verified visual evidence. This represents only a fraction of the extent of the damage caused by Israeli airstrikes and demolitions, with limited ground access and available satellite imagery. The actual scale of the destruction is most likely much greater.

The institution states that the war in Lebanon has forced many people to flee to more northern areas or cross the border into Syria.

Lebanon's Health Ministry says more than 2,000 people have been killed since the conflict began. Israeli authorities said 13 soldiers and two civilians had been killed by Hezbollah in the past six weeks.
