According to the CPC, at the meeting the businessman’s lawyers asked to ensure Mindich’s participation via videoconference. The defense explained his non-arrival by the fact that “shelling continues in Ukraine,” and the criminal proceedings, according to the lawyer, allegedly have signs of “political persecution.”
“As soon as fears for life and health no longer exist, he is ready to come and communicate,” lawyer Mindich is quoted as saying at the center.
The panel of judges consisting of Sergei Bodnar, Daniela Chernenkaya and Igor Panaid decided to refuse the petition.
The CPC noted that the court explained this by the fact that Mindich is wanted, no grounds have been provided that would prevent his personal participation in the meeting, and it is also impossible to reliably establish his identity during an online connection.
The court also refused to satisfy the appeal on the merits and upheld the decision of the Supreme Court to refuse to cancel the report of suspicion.
