From Wednesday, you can use the mObywatel application to apply for a passport for a child under 12 years of age, informed the Ministry of Digitization. It is also possible for the other parent or guardian to consent to the passport.

Children up to 12 years of age are usually issued a passport for 5 years. Obtaining it takes about 30 days and requires the consent of both parents or legal guardians. According to the Ministry of Digitization, from now on it is also possible to settle the matter in mObywatel.

The passport application available in the application is largely ready because the data is completed automatically.

“The application may be submitted by the child's parent, guardian or guardian. In the case of a parent, the application downloads data from the PESEL register and displays a list of the user's children automatically. At this stage, it is necessary to indicate which child the application concerns. In the case of a guardian or guardian, the service includes a place for attachments that document the right to care for the child,” explained the ministry.

The user can add a ready-made passport photo or take a photo themselves, select the type of passport (ordinary or temporary), and indicate the place of receipt of the document (in the country or abroad).

The second parent or guardian must consent to issuing a passport for a child – this option is also available in mObywatel.

The application submitted using the application must be accompanied by proof of payment of the passport fee.

The application is signed using a trusted profile. After sending it, the user receives a confirmation in the application, through which he can check whether the passport is ready for collection. (PAP)
