lighthouse Constanța announced through an official statement the separation from Ianis Zicuthe team's head coach.
At 14:00, at the base of the Constanța Lighthouse, a press conference will be held where Zicu's replacement will be presented. According to Gazeta information, it is about Cătălin Anghel (51 years old), Gică Hagi's trusted “second”.
The press release from the Constanța Lighthouse: “Thank you, Ianis Zicu!”
“Starting today, Ianis Zicu is no longer the coach of our team.
After a final discussion with the technician who prepared our team in the first 34 stages of the 2025/2026 season, Farul Constanța and Ianis Zicu decided to terminate their contractual relations at the head coach's wish.
Thank you, Ianis Zicu, and good luck in the next challenge!”, Farul Constanța said on the club's official website.
At the end of the last Superliga match, a 0-1 defeat against Hermannstadt, Ianis Zicu announced his resignation. The management tried to turn him out of the way, but the attempts were in vain.
It's painful, frustrating, because we had opportunities to open the scoring. Things have been this way for a while now, we have lost games and points undeservedly and I think at this point it would be best to have a shock to the team.
In Romania, this is what helps and, as much as I love the team, I think about this too. I simply believe that the team must come before anyone and anything. I had everything I wanted here and I didn't achieve what I set out to do at the beginning of the season.
I'm not a coach who sticks to the chair, I think it's the right time for the club to be able to move on and find the solution, because the next game is in 10 days.
