The match against Sunderland will be the debut of coach Roberto De Zerbi at Tottenham. The Italian, who recently left Marseille, was appointed instead of Igor Tudor.
Tottenham winless in Premier League in 2026
Tottenham was humiliated by Nottingham Forest last stage, before the break of the national teams, score 0-3. Spurs have 15 defeats in 31 Premier League games. He won only 7 and recorded 9 draws.
The Londoners are 13 games without a win in a row in the Championship and have not won in 2026 in the Premier League. The last success in the first English league dates back to December 28, 2025, 1-0 with Crystal Palace.
West Ham, huge win with Wolves
West Ham, one of Spurs' opponents to save from relegation, opened the stage with a recital at the London Stadium.
Mavropanos and Taty Castellanos managed a “double” each. The Greek defender opened the scoring from Bowen's cross, the forward making it 2-0 with a shot from inside the box after a back-heel pass from Pablo. Just one minute later, Taty managed to “double” with a deflected shot, the assist being signed by the same Bowen.
The Englishman also scored the 4th goal, from the corner. The ball was slightly deflected by an opponent, it reached Mavropanos, who also ticked “double”.
The Hammers have been hugely successful in their relegation battle and unless Tottenham beat Sunderland they will finish the stage in 17th place. Conversely, Wolverhampton could be mathematically relegated at the end of the next stage if they lose to Leeds and Spurs beat Sunderland and Brighton.
