VIDEO Serious bus accident on the Spanish island of La Gomera: at least one dead and 14 injured

One person died and 14 were injured, three of them seriously, in a bus accident on Friday on the island of La Gomera in the Canary archipelago in the Atlantic Ocean, the Spanish authorities informed, quoted by AFP, DPA and Agerpres.

“A coach fell into a ravine,” the rescue services announced on platform X, stating that there was “one man dead, three seriously injured and 11 slightly injured.”

Photos released by rescue services showed the coach overturned on its side, down a mountainside along the road.

The nationality of the victims was not disclosed, but Hector Cabrera, in charge of emergency services in La Gomera, explained to the public station TVE that the coach passengers “were staying at a hotel complex” on the island.

The Canary Islands, a popular tourist destination, received 15.7 million of the nearly 100 million visitors registered in all of Spain last year, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
