Tribute to Mircea Lucescu in the center of Bucharest

The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) published this evening images of a tribute to Mircea Lucescu, in the center of Bucharest.
A few minutes after the vigil of “Il Luce” ended, several images from the great coach's career were projected on the screens outside the Cocor store, near Piața Unirii.

These images were accompanied by the message: “Thank you for everything, Mr. Lucescu! Rest in peace!”.

Images of Mr. Lucescu run on the screens of the Cocor store, in the center of the Capital, until Friday, at 12:00.

It didn't matter who we were playing against. We were practicing our football. We didn't know how to defend ourselves, we always tried to attack. Lucescu was a winner, a strong and extremely hardworking man.
I was always by his side. Without football, it is impossible for him to live. I'm proud of him and everyone should be. It is unique.

Mircea Lucescu, unparalleled career in football

Mircea Lucescu took his first steps in football at Dinamo Bucharest, the team with which he has spent most of his career. He also performed at Știința Bucharest and Corvinul Hunedoara.

As a player, he won 7 championship titles and a Romanian Cup, all with Dinamo.

Throughout his coaching career, he trained Corvinul, the Romanian national team, Dinamo, Pisa, Brescia, Reggiana, Rapid, Inter, Galatasaray, Beşiktaş, Shakhtior, Zenit, the Turkish national team and Dinamo Kiev.

He won 36 trophies in his career as a technician: 9 times the championship of Ukraine, 8 times the Ukrainian Cup, 7 times the Ukrainian Supercup, 3 times the Romanian Cup, 2 times the Romanian championship, 2 times the Turkish championship, as well as the UEFA Cup, the European Super Cup, the Russian Super Cup and the Anglo-Italian Cup.
