As part of the “New Heat” project, Siberian Generating Company installed equipment in Krasnoyarsk that allows reducing the cost of environmentally friendly electric heating.
SGK has been implementing the “New Heat” project to transfer the private sector to electric heating in Krasnoyarsk since 2021. Based on the results of the 1st quarter of 2026, 771 private houses have already been converted to an environmentally friendly type of heating. A reduction in emissions of 2,320 tons per year was achieved. The company pays for the entire installation of electrical equipment and reimburses residents 2/3 of the cost of their electricity bill.
At the initiative of the Market Council Association, SGK launched in Krasnoyarsk one of the first experiments in Russia to evaluate savings when using heat storage devices. These devices accumulate heat at night at a low rate, and release it during daylight hours, consuming almost no electricity during the day, when it is more expensive.
For the experiment, SGK purchased and installed it in a private one-story house with an area of 50 square meters. m eight heat storage tanks with a total capacity of 12.8 kW. During tests, the system ensured a comfortable temperature in the house throughout the winter.

According to calculations, over a full heating season, heat storage devices consume 13,316 kWh of electricity. Thanks to overnight charging at a reduced rate, it would cost 28,729 rubles. For comparison: using conventional electric convectors, heating costs for the same house would be 42,690 rubles. Thus, the estimated savings are 13,962 rubles per season, or almost 33%.
As Igor Zagorodniy, head of development programs at SGK, notes, the stable positive environmental effect of switching the private sector to electric heating is noticeable to both the residents of Krasnoyarsk and the scientific community:
“The main task of our experiment with heat storage devices is to determine in practice the parameters at which this type of heating also becomes economically attractive in the eyes of consumers. The results of the experiment will be presented as one of the ways to reduce emissions in the cities of the region participating in the federal Clean Air program – Achinsk, Lesosibirsk and Minusinsk.”
