Ion Pârcălab, 84 years old, an emblematic name in the history of the Dinamo club, welcomes the news announced today by Cătălin Predoiu, the Minister of the Interior of Romania, who revealed that he proposed that the future stadium of the “dogs” should bear the name of the late Mircea Lucescu, the legend who passed away this Tuesday.

Yesterday, the nicknamed “Arrow of the Carpathians” offered an overwhelming reaction to Gazeta Sporturilor, in the context of his soul connection with former teammate Mircea Lucescu. The four-time champion with Dinamo could not contain his emotions on the phone, calling “Il Luce” “a brother, a true friend”.

On Thursday, Gazeta's call caught Ion Pârcălab on the run, while he was heading to the National Arena to lie down at Mircea Lucescu's catafalque.

However, the former great footballer found time to comment on the news of the moment for all Dynamo players. He insisted on applauding Predoiu's initiative and spoke again about the priceless legacy left by “ll Luce”.

Ion Pârcălab: “It's a big deal! It's well worth it!”

“I saw it, how could I not? I watch everything. It's a big deal! I saw what the minister said, [Mircea Lucescu] well worth it, honestly!

He was a great footballer and an exceptional coach, he certainly deserves it. He is the third in the world, after Ferguson and Guardiola… Which Romanian coach has ever won so many trophies?

The stadium will be called “Dinamo – Mircea Lucescu”, with “Dinamo” before it, said the minister. Very nice! It's extraordinary! Whoever thought of this thought of it very well, because it was worth it.

He was a great man and coach, a family man and deserves all the honors and everything that is now being done for himbecause it is the largest that has existed so far in our country, I have never encountered anything like it before! I've never seen presidents' funerals like this before, I tell you honestly. God rest him in peace! I tell you honestly, I kept crying and I'm sick because of it,” declared Pârcălab, for Gazeta.
