The ceremony took place in the Sejm on April 9 without the participation of the incumbent president, Karol Nawrocki, which caused controversy and accusations of violating political standards.
Former President Andrzej Duda also commented on the matter and pointed to the possible legal consequences of such a decision. In turn, politicians associated with Law and Justice, including Przemysław Czarnek, described the situation as a serious problem for the rule of law.

Applications can be submitted until April 16, 2026, which means that formally the former president would still be able to apply for the position.
