Coronavirus bats have appeared in Siberia. If someone wanted to (well, suddenly) – don’t eat.
TSU biologist Alexander Zhigalin, his colleagues from Vector and the University of Dagestan collected samples of winged birds in the mountains of Altai and Kuzbass. The materials contained a corona virus similar to Asian and European ones. This is because Siberian mice are representatives of both continents. Their patterns can mix and evolve. They become infected not only during mating and bites, but also during the settlement of caves, which were not processed after previous residents.
These studies help to find out what diseases threaten local people and how to deal with them.
