Every summer resident dreams of getting a rich harvest of cucumbers. However, a lot is decided by what gets into the hole at the time of planting the seedlings.
It is the correct “refueling” that helps the plant quickly begin to grow and remain strong throughout the season. If you give cucumbers everything they need from the first day, they will reward you with strong vines and a lot of crunchy fruits.
What to put in the hole when planting cucumbers
Cucumbers love nutritious soil and immediately respond to care. If you give them the right substances from the very beginning, the bushes will grow strong and powerful, and the harvest will ripen earlier and be more abundant.
Add to the planting hole:
- humus – 1 handful;
- wood ash – 1 tbsp. l.;
- onion peel – 1 handful;
- crushed shells from 2 eggs.
If desired, you can add 1 teaspoon of superphosphate. This additive helps roots grow, especially in cold soil.
How to mix and plant correctly
All additives must be mixed with the soil directly in the hole so that the roots do not directly touch the fertilizers. Then water the hole well with warm water and only after that plant the seedlings.
Advice from an experienced summer resident
If you plant 3 plants together in one hole and add all the listed components, the cucumbers grow even more actively. In close quarters, they create their own microclimate: they retain moisture and heat better, and are also easier to pollinate.
The result will be visible within a week: the seedlings look strong and healthy, the leaves become dark green, the stems become thick and elastic. In the future, such bushes produce more fruit, and the cucumbers ripen more quickly, reports “Garden with Veronica” (18+).
