The first president of Tuva, Sherig-ool Oorzhak, died

The first president of the Republic of Tuva, Sherig-ool Oorzhak, died at the age of 83. About this reported the head of the region, Vladislav Khovalyg, in his Telegram channel.

Khovalyg called the incident an irreparable loss for Tuva. According to him, Oorzhak was an outstanding statesman, a man of exceptional energy and dedication. He led the region in the most difficult 90s, and responsibility for the fate of the region during the formation of the new Russia fell on his shoulders.

The head of Tuva noted that thanks to the wisdom and strong will of the first president, the republic managed to maintain stability and lay the foundation for further development. He expressed condolences to Oorzhak’s family and friends.

“This is a personal pain for every resident of the republic. The bright memory of the first president of Tuva will forever remain in the history of our region and in the hearts of people,” Khovalyg wrote.

Sherig-ool Oorzhak was born on July 24, 1942. He was the President of Tuva from 1992 to 2002. From 2002 to 2007, Oorzhak served as chairman of the government of the republic.
