Series of Ballistic Strikes Towards Sea of Japan: North Korea Launches New Missiles After Declaring Seoul 'Enemy State'

North Korea launched several short-range ballistic missiles toward the Sea of Japan on Wednesday morning, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff, quoted by Japanese media and Reuters.
The missiles were launched from the Wonsan area of Kangwon Province in eastern North Korea and are estimated to have traveled about 240 kilometers.
These launches come just one day after North Korea fired another projectile, also suspected to be a ballistic missile, from the Pyongyang area, according to nippon.com.
The rapid succession of tests is seen as a show of strength towards Seoul. North Korean state media on Tuesday published a statement by a senior diplomat reiterating South Korea's “enemy state” status.
Regarding Tuesday's incident, South Korean media reported that the projectile fired toward the east of the peninsula disappeared from radar shortly after takeoff, indicating a launch failure.
