Peter Magyar, chairman of Hungary's most important opposition party – Tisza, assured in a post published on Tuesday on X that the US will remain a key partner of Hungary after his party's victory in Sunday's parliamentary elections.

Tisza's leader quoted JD Vance's statement from Tuesday's press conference in Budapest with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in which the American vice president assured that the United States “will cooperate with whoever wins the Hungarian elections.” In the part of the statement that Magyar omitted, Vance added that “he is sure that Viktor Orban will win the next elections.”
“Tisza's government will see the United States as a key partner, both as a NATO ally and as an economic partner,” Magyar noted.
The oppositionist also invited US President Donald Trump and Vice President Vance to the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the revolution against the Soviet occupation, which is celebrated in Hungary on October 23.
The US vice president arrived in Budapest on Tuesday for a two-day visit to support Orban ahead of the upcoming elections. During a joint press conference, he admitted that he “wants to help the Hungarian Prime Minister in the election season as much as he can.”
– I don't expect Hungarian citizens to listen to the US Vice President; that's not why I'm here. I want to send a signal to everyone, especially to the bureaucrats in Brussels who are doing everything they can to control the Hungarian people because they don't like their leader, said the American vice president. He added that “what is happening before the elections in Hungary is one of the worst forms of foreign interference I have seen or read about.”
– Brussels bureaucrats tried to destroy Hungary's economy and make the country less energy independent. They're doing all this because they hate this guy,” Vance said, pointing to Orban standing next to him. – I encourage Hungarians to ask themselves not who is pro- or anti-European, pro- or anti-American, but who is pro-Hungarian, he stressed.
Parliamentary elections in Hungary will be held next Sunday, April 12. The opposition Tisza is ahead of Prime Minister Orban's Fidesz in most independent polls. In Median's March survey, it received support of 58%. among decisive voters, and Fidesz – 35 percent. A survey by the 21 Research Center on April 1 showed that Tisza had the support of 56 percent. decisive voters, and Fidesz – 37 percent
Polls by centers linked to the government indicate that Orban's party has an advantage of several percentage points.
