Many gardeners know how quickly aphids can cover young shoots of cucumbers, curl the leaves and leave a sticky coating on them. In just a few days, the plants lose vigor, the ovaries become smaller, and growth slows down. But there is a simple and gentle way to get rid of it without chemicals.
What you can do:
- Peel 1 large head of garlic and chop it.
- Pour 2 liters of warm water and add 2 tbsp. spoons of wood ash.
- Leave for 24 hours in a dark place, stirring occasionally.
- Strain the solution and pour into a spray bottle.
- Spray cucumbers early in the morning or evening, especially the undersides of the leaves and young shoots.
- Repeat every 5-6 days, especially after rain.
Garlic repels aphids with its smell, and the ash creates a thin protective film on the leaves that prevents insects from gaining a foothold. The solution is safe for bees, does not burn leaves and leaves no residue.
After the first spraying, you will notice: new leaves grow evenly, the ovaries do not turn yellow, and aphids stop reproducing on old leaves.
