How many Romanians received a special pension in February. The highest average service pension: over 25,000 lei

In February 2026, 11,898 people received service pensions, most of them being judges and prosecutors, according to data from the National Public Pension House (CNPP), writes Agerpres.

Among them, 7,863 beneficiaries have a pension from the state social insurance budget – BASS (contributory).

Most pensioners who received a service pension were beneficiaries of Law 303/2022 on the status of prosecutors and judges, respectively 5,820, of which 2,530 with a pension from BASS. In their case, the highest average service pension was also recorded, of 25,488 lei, of which 7,534 from BASS and 22,374 from the state budget.

According to the CNPP, 786 people (690 with BASS pensions) benefited from the law on the granting of service pensions to members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps of Romania. The average pension was 7,002 lei, of which 3,052 lei pension from the state budget.

Regarding the beneficiaries of the law on the status of parliamentary civil servants, their number was 870 people (655 with BASS pension), the average pension amounting to 6,250 lei (3,558 lei from the state budget).

According to the CNPP, 1,333 pensioners benefited from the law regarding the status of professional civil aeronautical personnel in civil aviation in Romania (all with pensions from BASS), and the average pension amounted to 13,111 lei, of which 8,067 lei supported from the state budget.

Service pensions for beneficiaries from the Court of Accounts were received by 688 people (all with BASS pensions), the average being 10,478 lei, of which 2,550 lei the share borne from the state budget.

Also, 2,401 pensioners benefited from Law 130/2015 for the completion of Law 567/2004 regarding the status of specialized auxiliary staff of the courts and Prosecutor's Offices (1,967 with a pension from BASS), the average pension being 7,207 lei, of which 4,448 lei borne from the state budget.

At the end of February, Nicușor Dan promulgated the new law amending the magistrates' pensions, which provides that the retirement age will gradually increase to 65 years (within 15 years from the entry into force of the law), and the amount of the pension cannot exceed 70% of the net allowance received in the last month of activity. The changes, made by the Bolojan Government, were strongly contested from the top of the judicial system, and the High Court of Cassation and Justice challenged the law at the Constitutional Court. After several delays over several months, the CCR ruled that the law was constitutional.
